India's Southern India
Periyar
Within this lush pairing of delightful Indian landscapes lies the undulating jungle to grow 36 varieties of spices, and the dense forest and massive lake to host a myriad of endemic species. The product of the Mullaperiyar Dam constructed in 1895, the Periyar Lake covers what once was enormous tracts of land.
Today the Lake forms a thriving nucleus for the breathtaking sanctuary that supports a plethora of monkeys, antelopes, sambar, colorful birdlife, elephants and tigers. Cruise the lake amidst its misty veil for an excellent opportunity to view the wildlife, or breathe in the rich aroma of coffee, cardamom and pepper from the comforts of your private perch.
