Laos's Southern Laos
Southern Laos
While much less visited than its well promoted northern counterpart, Southern Laos proves rich in obscure sites and charming villages, and deserves a hearty exploration. Offering unrivalled remote retreats and a wealth of breathtaking scenery, Laos’ one of a kind southern region is quickly developing into a trekking center in its own.
Explore the quiet village of Champasak, where the intriguing Khmer Ruins have stood since before the days of Angkor Wat. Trek through the rugged terrain of the Bolaven Plateau where the little known provinces of Salavan, Sekong and Attapeu remained untouched by outside hands. Or, head directly for the idyllic islands of Si Phan Don, where dolphins, bamboo bungalows and captivating sights only begin the long list of memories to be made.
