Thailand's Bangkok

Siam Square

Home to the famed Grand Palace, this area formally served as the capital of Thailand and remains one of the country’s most visited destinations. Proud within the confines of Rattanakosin Island, the Grand Palace is well deserving of its notoriety and a sight not to be missed during any stay in Bangkok. Here too visitors will find the infamous Jim Thompson’s House, who was instrumental in reviving Thailand’s silk industry, the National Museum, and the breathtaking Wat Phra Kaeo, more commonly known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

This temple, one of the most revered shrines in the country, sits on the grounds of the Grand Palace surrounded by walls in excess of a mile long. It holds some of the finest examples of Buddhist sculpture, architecture, painting and decorative craft in Thailand, as well as the infamous Emerald Buddha itself.
