The Three Great Monasteries
Situated at the foot of Moutain Gambo Utse, discover the largest of three captivating monasteries that make up the renowned Three Great Monasteries. Covering 250,000sqm, the largest of the group, the Drepung Monastery joins the Ganden Monastery and the Sera Monastery in sacred supremacy.
Constructed during the 15th century these revered temples once housed thousands of monks and served as the centers of religious and political discourse and activity.
