Sanctum Inle Resort's French designer was obviously influenced by monastic architecture from the Renaissance period. Public spaces are built around two arcaded cloisters and apartments, set on three levels, fanning out across the lawned gardens. The furnishings are of high quality throughout, using local fabrics and softly polished Burmese teak, and specifically built for the room. Rooms are stylishly minimalist and are sumptuously comfortable. There is no asceticism here; you'll want to end the day with a Cuban cigar and a bottle of Myanmar-made wine at The Cloister Bar.
