A dish whose origins are as rich as its flavors, Samlor Kako is a spicy vegetable soup that, according to Khmer legend, was created by a local housewife attempting to poison her unfaithful husband. Instead of poisoning him, however, the hundreds of healthy ingredients in the soup transformed the man into a sweet, devoted husband, and the two lived happily ever after; word of the dish quickly spread throughout the country, and today the dish is enjoyed by locals just as much as it was back when the unsuspecting husband took his first bite.
