Tokyo, Japan
Explore Roppongi, a section of Tokyo once famous for its nightlife, is now respectable again thanks to the Roppongi Hills, a massive shopping and dining complex.
Roppongi Hills, which opened in April 2003, is Japan’s most significant private urban development project. It incorporates modern architecture with pre-existing traditional features, including a Japanese garden, a Buddhist temple, and a children’s park. Called the ‘Rockefeller Center of Tokyo’, Roppongi Hills sits on a 28-acre site that includes the Mori Tower, the Asahi Broadcasting Center, Virgin Cinemas, more than 200 retails shops and restaurants and residential towers that can house more than 840 families.
