Kyoto, Japan

Visit Ninen-Zaka and Sannen-Zaka, two of Kyoto’s most picturesque and well-preserved traditional districts.
These two pedestrian-only districts are lined with wonderfully restored traditional shophouses and wooden teahouses that serve as a living tribute to the ancient atmosphere of Kyoto. As you wander along the gently sloping streets, you will find an array of charming items for sale, including: incense, fans and woven goods in addition to delicious pastries and other local delicacies.
According to legend, it is said that if you fall down in Ninen-zaka, you will die in 2 years. This myth serves as a special reminder for visitors to take care not to fall down while strolling along the sloping stone steps.
